A 46 year old single white female who underwent a laparoscopic gastric bypass operation for morbid obesity. She lost 125 lbs in weight and her breasts became extremely small, loose and empty. This was a difficult challenge since the breasts required tightening as well as enlargement. Furthermore, the patient wanted to avoid scars at all costs. The breasts were tightened using the Benelli technique (a ring of skin is removed from around the nipple) and through the same incisions the implants were placed. It is likely that tightening (mastopexy) will have to be repeated as the patient gets older, since the skin in such individuals tends to stretch like putty.
