Age: 48
Diagnosis: Breast cancer
Radiation: Yes
Reconstruction: Bilateral DIEP flaps
Timing: Immediate
Flap placement: Subcutaneous
Opposite breast: Bilateral DIEP flaps
Nipple: Local skin flaps and tattoo
Comment: In immediate reconstructions the incision for the mastectomy is placed around the periphery of the areola. The nipple-areola complex is replaced by a circle of abdominal skin derived from the DIEP flap. Later, the new nipple and areola are reconstructed within this circle, leaving almost no scarring
