Description:

This 67 year old white female had her face ‘resurfaced’ with the Coherent CO2 laser. This laser was extremely powerful and inflicted a second degree burn on the skin. Recovery was prolonged, uncomfortable and extremely messy due to the oozing of serum from the treated skin. This laser is seldom used now due to the risks of hypertrophic scarring, but the results were often excellent. Nowadays, a fractionated laser or a TCA peel is preferred. However, the old adage, ‘no pain, no gain’ applies.
